DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH:
The establishment of Department of English dates back to the inception of Vikash Degree College in the session 2012-13. English Honors was introduced in 2017-18 academic year, and continuing as such getting associated with many regular curricular activities like conducting seminars and debating, etc. The UG course of English Honors focuses on English Literature, Cultural Studies, Contemporary Literature and Comparative Literature etc. . . . In this course, students read about diverse plays, books and poems from various periods of history to debate and discuss those periods, the author’s intentions, the work’s cultural relevance, literary skill and character depth. The Department has adopted CBCS based syllabus. In addition, English is also taught as a compulsory subject for Arts/Science/Commerce undergraduate classes. There are 32 seats available here for UG course. Our vision is to provide excellent teaching and educational facilities to the needs of its students and empower them to meet and exceed challenges both at national and international levels. Our mission is to provide the students with quality educational experiences both in language and literature and extend the domain to interdisciplinary studies.
